Areas with mid-century architectural styles have become victims to real estate investors and flippers. There is a need to retain the original beauty and aesthetics of these neighborhoods. The city has a zoning tool that can give property owners the power to establish protective guidelines and armed themselves against future nonconforming renovations and developments. Christopher Lewis, VP of the Glen Oaks Neighborhood, will share his experience working to obtain the Conservation District (CD) designation for his neighborhood. A CD is intended to conserve an area’s distinctive character by protecting or enhancing its physical attributes and to enhance the livability of the neighborhood.
There are other overlay districts available for neighborhood such as Historic District and Neighborhood Stabilization Overlays. In this program, Christopher will share his perspective on why CD is preferable to the other designations.
OPENA will be serving pizza at the meeting! Join us for a fun time to socialize with your neighbors, enjoy pizza and listen to a great program!
